The Public Health Directorate of Sibiu announces a decrease in respiratory diseases in the last week of October, but draws attention to the increase in flu cases.
Between October 21 and 27 (in one week), 1,212 cases of upper respiratory tract infections (IACRS) were recorded, down from the previous week, when 1,609 cases were reported. Most illnesses occurred in the 5-14 and 15-49 age groups, with 57 hospitalizations reported, with 29 in infants, 0-1 years.
In the same period, 278 pneumonias were recorded, compared to 265 in the previous week, and 3 cases of influenza were reported, compared to 1 case in the previous week.
“We recommend observing personal hygiene measures (washing hands with soap and water and using sensitive tissues for sneezing or coughing) and a healthy lifestyle (food based on vegetables and fruits, rest and exercise), which is necessary to prevent infections through respiratory diseases and flu, paying particular attention to avoiding any crowd in public places. We also encourage the use of a protective mask if crowds cannot be avoided.
We urge the flu vaccination to continue, especially for the population exposed to a greater risk of illness or complications from the flu – people older than 65, pregnant women, children, immunocompromised people, people with respiratory or heart diseases”, distributes DSP.
