During the past week, an average of 253.3 people with covid-19 were admitted to hospital every day. That is a slight decrease (-3 percent) compared to a week ago. The number of deaths rises by 46 percent to almost 40 a day.

The decrease in the number of admissions does not yet translate into a decrease in the number of corona patients in hospitals. Currently, 3,128 people with covid are still in hospital (+6 percent), of whom 911 are in the intensive care unit (+15 percent).
In the meantime, the number of deaths is also increasing sharply. Between March 30 and April 5, an average of 39.4 corona deaths were counted per day. That is an increase of no less than 47.6 percent compared to a week earlier. In total, 23,348 people have already died in Belgium after a corona infection.
In the same week, an average of 3,592 new corona infections were also counted daily, which is a decrease of 25 percent on a weekly basis. But the number of tests administered has also fallen. The positivity ratio has even increased slightly to 8.1 percent.
1.6 million Belgians have now received at least one dose of a corona vaccine.
