The latest epidemiological report, published Tuesday by the Tunisian Ministry of Health, shows a clear drop in the number of daily infections with the new coronavirus, or 397 new positive cases.
Stopped on December 13, this report also reports 21 new deaths. To date, the country has totaled 111,758 cases of infection since March 2, including 3,915 cases of death, following 514,519 screening tests.
The ministry also said that 1,141 more patients had recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 85,882. Finally, 1,301 patients are still hospitalized, including 278 in intensive care and 86 others placed under artificial respiration.
“The epidemiological situation is currently stable, which is reflected in the daily figures recorded, showing a relative decrease in infections and a remarkable decline in the number of deaths”, commented the Minister of Health, Faouzi Mehdi, during ‘a recent statement to local and foreign media.
He insisted on the fact that “the stability of the epidemiological situation in Tunisia could hardly hide the still high number of cases of contamination received in hospitals”, while warning against a state of inaction and non-compliance by citizens preventive measures.
