The decrease in the number of corona infections in our country is continuing, according to figures from health institute Sciensano, which the cabinet of Health Minister Frank Vandenbroucke (Vooruit) announced on Monday.

According to the figures, the average number of corona infections from December 3 to 9 fell below the mark of 14,000: there were an average of 13,984 infections per day. That is a decrease of 20 percent compared to the week before. It seems to confirm that the decline is accelerating. In the same period, 670,703 corona tests were taken, of which 110,476 turned out to be positive. That brings the positivity ratio to 16.47 percent.
This positive trend is also reflected in hospital admissions. Between 6 and 12 December, an average of 271 patients with an infection were admitted to hospital every day. There were 3,277 patients in hospital on Sunday. Ten days ago there were 3,613 people.
Pressure on intensive care services also decreased slightly over the weekend. There were 827 patients on Sunday, compared to 839 on Saturday. There are still more beds occupied than ten days ago. At that time there were 804 patients in intensive care.
