Decrease in new infections continues, 62 new hospital admissions | Inland

A week ago, 4611 infections were detected on Sunday, the week before 10,191. In the past seven days, RIVM registered 24,509 positive tests, an average of about 3501 per day. So Sunday’s figure is well below that.

Most new infections were found in the municipality of Amsterdam, there were 194. This is followed by Rotterdam with 107, The Hague with 89, Westland with 42 infections and Eindhoven with 41 positive tests.

2 deaths from corona have been recorded in the past 24 hours. That does not mean that they died between Saturday and Sunday morning, it sometimes takes a while before a death is registered. On Saturday, 6 deaths were reported. A total of 29 deaths from corona were registered last week, about 4 per day on average.

Patients in hospitals

Nineteen new patients have been admitted to intensive care units in the Netherlands in the past 24 hours. 62 new admissions of people with Covid-19 were registered in the nursing wards. The total number of corona patients admitted is 683, sixteen more than Saturday, according to figures from the National Coordination Center for Patients Distribution (LCPS) on Sunday.

There are now 187 corona patients in the intensive care units of Dutch hospitals, six more than a day earlier. In the nursing wards, 496 people are affected by Covid-19, the disease caused by the corona virus. That’s ten more than Saturday.

A few weeks ago, hospitals treated just over 200 corona patients. After that, the number of infections took off, and with some delay the number of corona patients who were admitted to hospitals. After the strong revival of a few weeks, the corona virus is now quickly losing ground.
