Decrease in DHF cases in Buleleng

SINGARAJA, Nusa Bali
Cases of dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF) in Buleleng have decreased over the past three years. Data from Buleleng Health Service (Dinkes), a total of 821 cases were recorded in December 2022.

However, prevention efforts to suppress dengue cases in Buleleng continue. Buleleng health bureau chief Dr Sucipto said DHF cases in 2022 were down from 2020, which reached around 3,402 cases. Considering that there were 1,023 cases of dengue fever in Buleleng in 2021. Prevention efforts continue to be carried out by the Buleleng Health Bureau together with related parties, with counseling and fogging in places where there is a possibility of DHF occurring.

“The cases of DHF in 2022 have decreased compared to the previous year. With the change of the weather, it is possible that DHF can occur. We always do prevention, both counseling and fogging. We also do fogging if people are found to be infected with DHF,” he said Sucipto, Friday (12/16) ).

In addition to these preventive measures, the Buleleng Health Office will also seek to implement a walbasing program in 2023, i.e. the application of Wolbachia technology, the result of research by the World Mosquito Program (WMP) in collaboration with Gajah Mada University (UGM ) Yogyakarta and the Tahija Foundation.

Through this Walbasing program, Sucipto is very confident that the DHF cases in Buleleng can decrease up to 74%. “Yes, it happens that in 2023 we will have the program (walbasing). We hope everything goes smoothly, but first we will conduct awareness activities because we have to provide an understanding to the community,” explained Sucipto.

However, Sucipto again appealed to the people of Buleleng to continue to apply a clean lifestyle in their daily life, so as to prevent the occurrence of dengue cases. “We still urge the public to carry on the human movement for a healthy and shining life and there is a change in behavior by the community so that they live clean and healthy,” concluded Sucipto. *Ps
