Deconfinement: an update on the situation in Bordeaux and New Aquitaine

While Bordeaux and all the departments of its Region, classified “green” on the deconfinement map began this one on May 11, what is it now possible for you to do or not? Here is a point of situation in the capital of Gironde.

Mandatory masks, opening of platforms, covid-19 screening drive … Here is all you need to know to live this first stage of deconfinement serenely.

Two clusters in New Aquitaine

A few days before the start of deconfinement, two grouped cases were detected in New Aquitaine. The first in the village of Eglise-Neuve-de-Vergt, near Périgueux, in Dordogne following a funeral, and the second in a college in Chauvigny, in Vienne after preparatory meetings for the start of the school year.

In Dordogne, 127 people were screened with the very reactive support of the multi-professional health center of the Church of Neuve-de-Vergt and the home hospitalization service of the Périgueux hospital center. As of May 9, 2020, this screening had detected 9 people who were Covid19 positive (including the initial case). As none of the cases were serious, the patients were not hospitalized, but were immediately isolated at home.

At the college of Chauvigny, teachers having participated in several preparatory meetings with a view to resuming activity, the ARS engaged in screening of 19 people on Thursday, May 7. 3 other people tested positive, bringing to 4 the number of Covid in this educational community. Michel Laforcade, director general of the Regional Health Agency of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, recalled that the deconfinement must not let up on our efforts. “All these clusters and moments that we would have passed can also be educational moments, which allow us to remind the population that it may be now that barrier gestures are more important than when you were confined. Now, you are going to meet multiple people, in the means of transport, in your business, as a customer or if you are a trader. “

Opening of shops, parks and gardens

This May 11, the first stage of this deconfinement which wants to be progressive, saw the reopening of most of its shops, except bars and restaurants, still closed pending the government decision.

So, since yesterday, you can find your way to your favorite stores, find yourself a new book or rebuild your stock of beauty products. And this reopening day after two months of absence was marked by a significant number of people waiting for the curtain to rise, like rue Sainte-Catherine.

In Europe’s longest shopping street, traffic directions and safety distances, marked by road markings, have been defined by the prefecture and town hall, like queues in front of stores. The wearing of a mask is now compulsory there, like rue Porte Dijeaux next door or even public transport. As for the Sainte-Catherine promenade, the entrance is on rue Sainte-Catherine, and the exit is rue Porte Dijeaux.

The parks and gardens are also open to the public, with the exception of children’s areas. You will also have the pleasure of being able to return to the magnificent Gironde forests, provided you stay within a 100 km radius.

The beaches, meanwhile, remain closed for the time being. The decision to reopen them will be taken by the weekend by the New Aquitaine prefect Fabienne Buccio, following discussions currently underway with the mayors of the municipalities concerned.

The docks issued

This May 11, the prefectural order to close the quays was lifted. The platforms have therefore reopened, and marking here also regulates the circulation of bicycles and pedestrians. As for bikes, they must now take the cycle path exclusively.
