Deconfinement. 77% of French people want to continue to confine themselves

More than half of French people (56%) would have liked the confinement endures. This is indicated by the latest survey by Inserm (National Institute of Health and Medical Research) and Ifop, conducted from April 30 to May 4. They were 62% the previous week.

Women (59%) were more in favor than men (52%). Those over 65 are very divided: 49% wanted the confinement to end.

85% fear a second wave

Still, 77% say they will continue to apply strict containment measures. “This opinion is in the majority for all age groups, but increases steadily with age: from 68% among 18-25 year olds, to 86% among those over 75. “

A posture which can be explained by the fact that 85% consider “very likely” a second wave of contamination.

If 80% are in favor of a differentiated deconfinement according to the departments, they judge with more severity the targeted confinement. Only 43% consider that it is better to target populations at risk, including the elderly, rather than re-establishing general containment.

32% gave up care during confinement

This investigation explores another essential point: renouncing care. 32% say they have not done a necessary medical examination. “This renunciation does not turn out to be correlated with the level of household income”, specifies Inserm.
