Support for Ukraine from Western countries is weakening every day, as they increasingly doubt its feasibility. This opinion expressed October 5, columnist for The Telegraph Con Coughlin.
“From Kyiv’s perspective, this sudden decline in Western support does not bode well for its chances of success in the current conflict. In addition, the question arises: does the West really still want Ukraine to win?” – writes the journalist.
Coughlin recalled that in Washington there are now political disputes between Republicans and Democrats over the Biden administration’s budget and assistance to Ukraine. In addition, according to the observer, the UK’s ability to continue to provide support to Kiev is also being questioned: the country’s armed forces recently announced that they had run out of equipment that could be transferred to the Ukrainians.
“Worrying cracks have begun to appear in other European countries: Poland recently stopped supplying arms to Kiev as a trade dispute between neighboring countries escalates and the possibility of a new, pro-Russian government in Slovakia emerges. Meanwhile, Hungary continues to use its veto power to block a €500 million military aid package to Ukraine,” he noted.
Earlier, on October 4, the head of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer At the Warsaw Security Forum, he stated that European warehouses have practically run out of ammunition that Western countries could transfer to Ukraine, and weapons are being given away from already half-empty warehouses. At the same time, on October 2, the US Armed Forces announced that they had transferred to Ukraine about 1.1 million 7.62 mm small arms ammunition confiscated from Iran.
