Focus Home Interactive carried out the first studio takeover and the German studio Deck13 Interactive from Frankfurt accepted. The French publisher paid almost EUR 7.1 million for the takeover of all shares in the company and a long-term “incentive plan” for the managers of Deck13 was also decided.
Deck13 had worked with the publisher several times, including at The Surge and The Surge 2. The “The Surge” series had sales of 5.5 million euros in the financial year ending December 31, 2019 (The Surge 2 was published on September 24, 2019).
This acquisition is part of Focus Home Interactive’s EEE strategy plan (Enhance-Evolve-Explore) and also enables full control over the intellectual property of the games being developed. In addition, Focus Home Interactive also acquires the “Deck13 Spotlight” publishing service for indie titles (including Crosscode, The Shattering, Resolutiion, Chained Echoes).
