With Stefan Palma, the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine at the State Hospital Horn is getting a new primary doctor. He takes over the management of this department at the beginning of the year. The long-time head of the department, Reinhart Wickenhauser, has retired.
As a specialty hospital, Horn is responsible for medical care in the Waldviertel region. The aim is to provide the highly specialized departments of the hospital and thus the patients with anesthesiological and intensive care services at all times in the highest possible quality, Palma outlines his future task.
According to Palma, anesthesia and intensive care medicine have developed by leaps and bounds in recent years. “A modern hospital like the LK Horn is able to offer a variety of anesthetic procedures and can adapt the optimal method to the individual needs of the individual patient,” says the 43-year-old father of two who lives in Vienna.
What particularly appeals to him about the task is the combination of the possibilities of the most modern medicine with the individual care of the patient, describes Palma his motivation to move from the large company Vienna General Hospital to Horn. Here he has all medical procedures and equipment available and can also personally look after patients.
Palma studied in Graz and was most recently deputy head of neuroanesthesia at the University Clinic Vienna. He was the senior physician responsible for training in neuroanesthesia and was responsible for the complex anesthesia training module. In addition to his work at the University Clinic Vienna, Palma has an MBA in Health Care Management from the Vienna University of Economics and Business and the European Diploma for Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine, for which he also works as an examiner. He was also able to implement a number of organizational projects at the AKH.
Andreas Reifschneider, Managing Director of Gesundheit Waldviertel GmbH, believes that with Palma, “a young, committed, highly qualified doctor to manage intensive care medicine” has been won at the Horn Regional Hospital.
