/ Photo = Online community “Mother’s taste made in the old traditional way” Suspicion has been raised that the ‘handmade sikhye’ sold at a store for 8,000 won is a ready-made product priced at 4,000 won.

On the 13th, Mr. A said to an online community, “I often bought homemade sikhye from a fruit store that could deliver near my house, but when I looked at other people’s reviews, it was factory sikhye, not homemade. I just used it without removing the plastic bottle packaging.” “I sent it and got caught,” he claimed.

According to Mr. A, the price of 500ml sikhye, a ready-made product, was 4,000 won, but the store was selling it for 8,000 won. The store introduced it as ‘Mother’s taste made in the old traditional way.’

Mr. A said, “They have been deceiving customers by just removing the outer plastic. My acquaintance said, ‘It’s like that with everything these days. It was so sweet that it felt like a factory, but it was delicious and I ate it so I couldn’t say anything.'” He added, “The store stopped posting reviews on the delivery app without an apology. “I asked for it,” he said.

Mr. B also said, “They say it’s tteokbokki made with the owner’s secret sauce, but they use factory products. They have no concept of hygiene. They get bad fruit for free, cut it out, make hwachae, check the seasoning with the spoon used to make hwachae, and stir it again.” “It’s surprising that the guests didn’t get food poisoning,” he claimed.

He continued, “They even told me to urinate and spray water in the storage room where fruit containers and bread are stored because there is no bathroom. It’s really dirty. But it ranks high on delivery apps. Sikhye is told to take off the plastic with scissors when she comes in, but the part-time worker deliberately just delivered it. “There is a possibility that he may have sent it,” he added.

Purchasing a commercially available product and reselling it by claiming it is ‘handmade’ can be considered fraud.

In 2018, the ‘Mimi Cookie’ couple was caught selling about 34.8 million won worth of cookies they bought at a large supermarket by pretending they were organic handmade cookies. At the time, her husband was sentenced to one year in prison and two years of probation on charges of fraud and violation of the Food Sanitation Act, and her wife was sentenced to eight months in prison and two years of probation on the same charges.
