This December happened meteor Rain Puppid-Velids which started from the beginning of the month until December 15 2023. This reached its peak last Thursday.
This astronomical phenomenon arises from the Puppis constellation, having a rate of 10 meteors per hour when it reaches its maximum, according to the Southern Sky page.

10 meteor per jam
The Puppid-Velids meteor shower radiates from a location close to the star Naos. But it is named after the constellation in which it occurs. Even though the radiant point is in Puppis, it can move to another star or constellation, according to the Universe Guide page.
The emission point is the region of space where meteor particles exit. The location of the Puppid-Velids meteor shower’s radiant point is at coordinates determined by right ascension (123) and declination (-45).
In one hour there will be 10 meteors that can be seen. But the number can increase drastically if a comet or related object is nearby. Meanwhile, the speed of meteor shower particles reaches 40 km per second.
This number can be achieved assuming the sky is completely dark and the meteor shower is right above us. But in practice, observations will not reach ideal conditions. Therefore, the number of meteors you may see will be lower.
The population index is 3. The population index refers to the distribution of meteorite magnitudes, where the smaller the index, the brighter the meteor. The higher it is, the fainter the meteor will be. For this phenomenon, bright meteors will be seen more often.
Meteor showers are difficult to see in the Northern Hemisphere. The observer must be on the south side for those living in the northern hemisphere. So those living in Miami should be able to see it without much trouble.
Meanwhile, for those in the southern hemisphere, even though they can see it after dark, it is best to wait until 09:00 at night to see it, including our country, Indonesia.
You need to look to the southeast. If you can identify Canopus, which is one of the brightest stars in the night sky, look directly down at it.
During this period, there is a chance to see Puppid-Velid meteors every time the radiant point – in the constellation Vela – is above the horizon, with the number of visible meteors increasing as the radiant point gets higher in the sky.
