Ivan was born in 454 in the family of a military leader. Even as a child, the boy was carried away by the Holy Scriptures. When his father died, Ivan gave most of his dowry to the poor. The rest of the money went to the construction of temples. The man himself settled in the colonial church. He subsequently became a bishop.
After the death of the ruler, the chapter changes in the city. He tried to constantly interfere in the affairs of the Church. That is why Ivan decides to retire to the cell of the Lavra of Sava the Sanctified for 4 whole years. Then he lives for another 9 years as a hermit in the desert. When Ivan received the gift of healing, he returned to people. He lived for 104 years and died a calm and quiet death.
Also December 16 – commemoration day of the holy prophet Zephanius… Most of all his predictions are the Last Judgment and the end of the world, which he prophesied even 600 years before the birth of Jesus Christ.
From childhood, the boy lived according to Christian rules. He often saw God, talked to him, and understood his revelation. Already an adult Zephanius once saw a vision of the destruction of Jerusalem and the forced scattering of the Jews throughout the world. He began to urge those around him to return to the Lord, in order to thus be saved from the Last Judgment.

They say that even after the death of the abbot, healing power emanated from his remains. Sava’s life is a great example of humility, spirituality, and faith in God. For these qualities he was appointed abbot of the monastery of the Dormition of the Mother of God, and then – in the Sergeeva Lavra. There he ruled justly and wisely for 7 years.
