This day, the resource guards of the National Council of Protected Areas found a whale stranded between the border of the Monterrico Multiple Use Reserve and the Hawaii Multiple Use Area. Unfortunately, the cetacean was already deceased.
As reported by the ARCAS staff and staff from the USAC Center for Conservation Studies (CECON), they are guarding the area to prevent people from approaching the specimen and avoiding harm to health.
The CONAP Southeast Regional Directorate team is currently coordinating support with ARCAS, the Municipality of Chiquimulilla, Santa Rosa and other local institutions and actors to mobilize the specimen and proceed to bury it in a suitable place.

RECOMMENDATIONS
The authorities call on you to heed the recommendations of the personnel in the area, not to approach the specimen, since during the decomposition process gases are generated that could produce an explosion and cause an accident.
The common name of the whale corresponds to Tropical Whale or Brudes’ Whale and scientific name Baleanoptera edeni/ brydei, which measures approximately 13 meters.
