For Ukrainians, it is certainly an important gesture that proves that the further the Russian troops are, the more likely there is a return to normality. The Ukrainian branch of the Decathlon chain decided to reopen its store in Kiev.
– Friends, we have great news – we are restoring work! – announced on the Decathlon Ukraine Facebook page.

Moreover, the remaining stores are being prepared to reopen. In total, Decathlon has four supermarkets in Ukraine: in Kiev and Odessa. It began operating in this country relatively recently, in March 2019.
Decathlon at the same time in suspension, it maintains the operations of its 60 stores in Russia. As for the networks belonging to the Mulliez family, it is a bold move anyway, because Auchan and Leroy Merlin run their business in Russia unchanged. But the Russian chain is not as important for Decathlon as the stores in Russia are for Auchan (63 hypermarkets and 193 supermarkets) and Leroy (112 stores).
Auchan and Leroy Merlin are still on the Yale School of Management’s “list of shame”, as are 23 other companies, including currently in Poland, a producer of preserved vegetables Bonduelle, a producer of butter and Lactalis dairy products. In addition, 12 large investors from France have only suspended new investments in Russia, including the dairy producer Danone, the manufacturer of homeopathic preparations Boiron, the seller and manufacturer of cosmetics Yves Rocher, and the technology company BlaBlaCar.
