Traveler shows no mercy to Gravenberch; three debutants at the Dutch Juniors

Michael Reiziger has announced the pre-selection of the Dutch Juniors. 28 names have been called for the European Championship qualifiers with Georgia and Gibraltar. Young AZ goalkeeper Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro, among others, is making his debut in the pre-selection of the Dutch Juniors. Ian Maatsen, who played for the big Dutch team last international match, is now also in Reiziger’s pre-selection.
Reiziger also has room for two more debutants. Myron van Brederode (AZ) and Niek Schiks (Jong PSV) have been chosen for the first time. One name that is somewhat noticeably missing is that of Ryan Gravenberch. The 21-year-old Liverpool midfielder withdrew from the previous international break to focus on Liverpool. That has now cost him dearly.
The pre-selection is very similar to the pre-selection of the last international period. Brian Brobbey was called up at the time, but is now part of Ronald Koeman’s pre-selection. Rio Hillen (De Graafschap), who was called up for the international matches with Moldova and North Macedonia, is now not included. Lennard Hartjes, Serano Seymour (both Excelsior Rotterdam), Max Bruns (FC Twente) and Hugo Wentges (ADO Den Haag) are also not included this time. Hartjes is absent due to an injury.
Björn Meijer’s name is on the list. Club Brugge’s left back had to miss the previous international match due to an injury, but has now fully recovered. The Dutch Juniors will face Georgia in Batumi on October 12 and then travel to Gibraltar for a match with their peers from that country.
