Corona might be a spanner in the works for a long time, but she had no weather against the advance of new bands. This also applies to this West Flemish duo consisting of guitarist Dave Lantsoght and singer Justine Rotsaert. Between the lockdowns, a brand new project was being worked on under the name BRINES. Terms such as electronic pop and dance hall are certainly not out of place here. The first throw “Fuss” confirms this.
Sultry beats and even sultry synths create a mystical carpet for Lantsoght’s guitar playing. Usually rousing, but now and then also with a cutting character. Soon a clear structure is set up that you want to include in the song. In the bridge we hear a nice synth build with potential, but which unfortunately doesn’t get a chance to do its job. Apart from that, these Knokkenaren deliver a nice calling card to the outside world. We are curious what this duo has in store and even more about how they will translate this on stage.
