“Linda Gabarajeva’s poetry is characterized by precise observation – feelings and thoughts are embodied in concrete, tangible reality,” says Artis Ostup, editor of the collection “Apļi”. “In that sense, Gabaraeva continues the tradition of modernism, in which ideas and things were declared to be unified. She is also known for this tradition as a skilled poet and connoisseur of American poetry. One should not think that modernist aesthetics is an end in itself here, rather it is a tastefully used set of tools to achieve new goals. The contemporaneity of Gabaraeva’s poetry can be considered – attraction to places and people, such as Kandava, mother and son. An attraction to what makes one search for a pure language, because a played expression would be a betrayal. Gabaraeva has found this language surprisingly quickly, and its effect on the reader is immediate.” Photo: Publicity image

“Gabaraeva’s appearance in poetry, I would say, increases such a warm feeling of insecurity that strengthens the soul of every glove, even if it seems lost somewhere on the way to the hard-to-reach home,” poet Inese Zandere writes in “Rīgas Laiks” magazine.

Linda Gabarajeva has published in magazines “Strāva”, “Zoklis”, “Domuzīme” and internet magazines “Punctum” and “Satori”. Translated from English by HD, Edgar Lee Masters and Christina Rossetti. He also writes journalism and short prose. “Circles” is Gabaraeva’s first collection of poems.
