The arrival of Luca de Meo to the position of managing director of Renault was made official at the end of January. But the Italian could not take his duties before 1 July, to observe a period of non-competition agreement between Renault and the Volkswagen group. Luca de Meo was in effect until early January, boss Seat.
The newspaper Les Echos reveals that the new DG has already started working for the French manufacturer, after having obtained a relaxation of the period of non-competition with VW. Our colleagues indicate that Moe has, in particular, met with leaders and visited sites.
His arrival will above all become very concrete June 19, since it will be able to speak at the general assembly of Renault, which had been postponed as a result of the confinement. Luca de Meo, however, should not make big announcements. It remains until the 1 July in a period of observation, without taking any decision. The man, however, is highly anticipated on the strategic future of Renault.
At the end of may, Jean-Dominique Senard, president since the beginning of 2019, and Clotilde Delbos, interim executive director, presented the financial recovery plan. Renault wants to reduce its fixed costs by more than two billion euros within three years. The 15,000 job cuts are planned, 4 of which 600 in France. During their presentation, Jean-Dominique Senard and Clotilde Delbos had evacuated all the questions about the future of brands and models, waiting for that the arrival of Luca de Meo.
The latter is going to have bread on the board, specifying in particular the construction of the range of the Diamond over the coming decade and determine the future of Alpine.
