Among the publications aimed at gathering interactions on pages and accounts on social networking sites, a video clip was recently spread that was said to show a Palestinian child tearing up papers on which expressions about human rights were written, in front of the jury of a Western talent show, as an expression of protest against the Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip.
However, the claim is incorrect, as the video is clearly composed, similar to many similar videos circulating on social media sites that receive tens of thousands of interactions.
The video shows a child with scars or spots on his face, tearing up papers on which various phrases were written in English, including phrases about human rights and international human rights organizations, in what was portrayed as a protest against Western positions on the war in the Gaza Strip.
The comments accompanying the video stated, “Watch this heroic Palestinian child. He protested against the injustice of the entire world against his people in minutes and did what the leaders of the Arab world did not do. It is the silent cry of the oppressed.”

In other scenes of the video, what appear to be jury members appear in an emotional state.
The video was also published last December on a YouTube channel, accompanied by a comment claiming that the child was Ukrainian.
These posts received thousands of shares and millions of views on social media, although many people doubted their authenticity, as one of them commented, saying, “Although the video is fabricated, it carries a humanitarian message.”
Video truth
However, there are many suspicious elements in this video, including the clear discrepancy in the quality of the image between the child on the one hand, and the committee and the audience on the other hand, in addition to the lack of consistency between the video clips, which indicates that the clip is composite.
Another suspicious element is the appearance of members of the jury of the American talent show America’s Got Talent at times, and a member of the program in the Spanish version at other times.
In view of this, a search for still scenes from the video revealed that it was excerpted from episodes of the same talent show, but from versions shown in different countries. Also, some scenes of the British show’s judging panel member, Simon Cowell, were published on The Sun and Metro websites and do not contain scenes of the child shown in the circulating video.

These scenes, especially the footage showing the judges’ emotion, were superimposed with the child’s video to falsely suggest that he was participating in a talent show and that he had astonished the judges.
