Debts in the Storting – VG

EVERYBODY’S CHANGING: Yesterday, Torgeir Knag Fylkesnes would not say whether he had been notified of a tax crackdown for commuter housing. Now he wants it anyway.

Torgeir Knag Fylkesnes confirms to VG that he is one of the 28 Storting politicians who have been notified of a tax crackdown by the Tax Administration. But he does not take the blame himself.

– In September, I discovered a tax rule that was contrary to what the Storting had informed us Storting representatives about, Fylkesnes writes in an e-mail to VG.

He further writes that he contacted the Tax Administration to ask if this rule covered him. After that, he has been in dialogue with the Tax Administration, he writes.

– If the Tax Administration’s opinion is correct, the Storting has given incorrect guidance to its representatives over many years, Fylkesnes writes in an e-mail to VG.

He says nothing about how big the possible tax cut he has received is, even though VG has since yesterday tried to get an answer to that.

The reason why Fylkesnes can now get a tax break is that he has been given a free commuter apartment at the same time as he has rented out his apartment in Tromsø.

The SV deputy leader does not say outright that he will pay the claim that has now landed in his mailbox:

– The case has not been closed, and this is a relationship between the Tax Administration, the Storting and each individual representative. I therefore do not go into details beyond this. But as I have said before, I will of course pay taxes according to the rules.

VG has sent Fylkesnes the following SMS:

– You say that the case is not closed. Does that mean that you dispute the notification from the Tax Administration?

The SV deputy leader has not yet answered the question. In the email from SV where his statement is first given, it says that he does not want to comment on the case more than he has done.
