US President Biden will once again condemn the attack by the Russians in Ukraine in his State of the Union address, according to released pieces of text that, among others, the Reuters news agency writes. The State of the Union is the president’s annual overview of the state of affairs in the country and his plans for the coming year.
“In our history we have learned that dictators cause more chaos if they don’t pay a price for their violence,” the president will say. “They keep going. And the costs to the US and the world will continue to rise.”
The president will further say that Russian President Putin has done very little to prevent the war. “Putin’s war was premeditated and unprovoked. He refuses attempts at diplomacy. He thought the West and NATO would not respond,” Biden said. “And he thought he could drive a wedge between us here. Putin was wrong. We were ready.”
