Between September 21 and 27, an average of 1,890 new infections were diagnosed daily, an 8 percent decrease compared to the previous seven-day period.
In that same week, an average of 46,700 tests were taken daily, about 2 percent less than the week before. The positivity ratio has decreased slightly: 4.5 percent of that number of tests still gives a positive result.
At 1.02, the reproduction number remains above the limit of 1. An R-value lower than 1 means that the pandemic is weakening, above 1 means gains in territory for the virus.
On average, 8.6 people die every day from the consequences of the corona virus; that is 40 percent more than the week before. In total, 25,602 people have died from Covid-19 in our country since the start of the pandemic.
Between 24 and 30 September, an average of 54.3 people were hospitalized with a corona infection every day, which is 2 percent less than in the past week. At the moment, 713 corona patients are in hospital (+3 percent), 212 of whom require intensive care (-2 percent).
Meanwhile, 86 percent of the adult Belgian population or 74 percent of the total population has had at least one shot with a corona vaccine. 85 percent of adults are fully vaccinated, compared to 73 percent of the entire population.
