The death toll from the most violent earthquake that struck has risen Morocco To 2,862 dead as of Monday evening, according to what the Ministry of Interior announced.
The ministry said in a statement: “As of seven o’clock on Monday evening (18:00 GMT), the number of deaths caused by the earthquake reached 2,862 people, 2,854 of whom were buried,” while the number of wounded rose to 2,562, according to Agence France-Presse.
Government spokesman Mustafa Paytas had confirmed earlier Monday that the death toll from the earthquake would stabilize very soon.
Paytas also added in statements to Al-Arabiya/Al-Hadath: “We will announce within two days the plan to rehabilitate the affected areas,” adding that the government is providing immediate aid to survivors and those affected by the earthquake.
He also explained that all teams are working around the clock to reach the besieged people, indicating that services will soon return to Marrakesh as soon as possible.
He concluded by saying that the roads that were damaged will be rehabilitated earthquakePointing out that falling rocks hindered relief teams from reaching the affected areas.
It is noteworthy that Moroccan rescuers are racing against time, with the support of foreign teams, to find survivors and provide assistance to hundreds of displaced people who lost their homes after the devastating earthquake that occurred on Friday night.
