Ekira said at a press conference held in the capital Kinshasa on the evening of the 16th that as of the afternoon of the 16th local time, search and rescue personnel had recovered 47 bodies. He said that due to limited conditions, the authorities have not yet obtained the passenger list of the wrecked ship and cannot determine the number of people on board at the time of the incident. Relevant departments will investigate and hold accountable the accident.
On the 15th, Nganzi, deputy governor of Equateur Province, told the media that search and rescue personnel received reports of 261 missing people.
