Yesterday, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that the death toll from the war waged by Israel on the Gaza Strip had risen to 25,105 dead and 62,681 injuries since last October 7.
The Ministry stated, in a statement reported by the Palestinian Ma’an Agency yesterday, that 178 Palestinians were killed and 293 others injured within 24 hours, noting that about 70% of the dead in Gaza were women and children.
She added: “A number of victims are still under the rubble and on the roads, and ambulance and civil defense crews cannot reach them.”
Israeli aircraft continue their bombing on the 107th day of the war on the Gaza Strip, leaving dozens dead and hundreds wounded.
Israel has pledged to continue fighting until it can eliminate Hamas, but it may take a long time to achieve this goal.
Yesterday, the American Wall Street Journal reported that US intelligence estimates indicate that Israel has so far succeeded in killing between 20% and 30% of Hamas fighters in Gaza.
The report revealed that Washington believes that Hamas still possesses sufficient ammunition to continue attacking Israel and Israeli forces in Gaza for several months to come.
According to American estimates, Hamas had between 25,000 and 30,000 fighters before the war, in addition to thousands of police officers.
Meanwhile, yesterday evening, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu categorically rejected the conditions proposed by Hamas to end the war in the Gaza Strip.
Netanyahu said, in a recorded message: “If we agree to this, our soldiers will have fallen in vain. If we agree, we cannot guarantee the security of our citizens.”
