According to data published by the Russian Military Medical Service, the death of the first Russian soldier from radiation sickness during his stay in the area of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant (NPP) has been recorded.

The General Staff of Ukraine has announced that “wounded” Russian soldiers who have received significant doses of radiation in the NPP closed area are being treated at the Gomel Radiation Medicine Center in Belarus.

26 people have been reported hospitalized and 73 have been hospitalized for recovery.

Russian forces occupied the first day of the war at the Chernobyl NPP on February 24. On Thursday, Russian troops left the NPP and headed for the Ukrainian-Belarusian border.

After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russian soldiers moved through the most heavily radiation-contaminated area without any protective equipment.
