LAmerican rally driver Ken Block, a YouTube star and best known for his spectacular demonstrations behind the wheel of race cars in urban environments, was killed while riding a snowmobile in Utah, his sports team announced Monday. “It is with our deepest regret that we can confirm that Ken Block has died in a snowmobile accident,” Hoonigan’s racing division said on his website.

“Ken Block was riding a snowmobile up a steep hill when the vehicle flipped over and landed on him. His death was pronounced at the scene,” the local sheriff’s office said on Facebook. Co-founder of shoe brand DC Shoes in 1994, Block, 55, began his career as a rally driver after the sale of his company 10 years later, without ever truly being part of the sport’s elite.
