Henri Rive, former first deputy of the city of Saint-Martin-d’Hères, died at the age of 94. He arrived in Grenoble in 1965 as a department director, and will be responsible for the preparation of the Olympic Games and the development of the city. Syndicated to the CGT, he joined the French Communist Party. His appointment to the post of secretary general will be the subject of a smear campaign orchestrated by the right. In 1971, he was elected municipal councilor of Saint-Martin-d’Hères and was first deputy from 1995 to 1999, re-elected until 2001. Rhône-Alpes regional secretary of the CGT federation of public services, he is very involved in the movement of May 68 and became one of the leaders of the workers’ cooperative society Manufrance, which was liquidated in 1985. L’Humanité offers its condolences to his family and loved ones.
