A great gentleman from regional tennis is gone. Christian Richard, 72, died on Thursday, May 21, after a lifetime commitment to serve the little yellow ball.
He joined the Eure-et-Loir committee in the late 1970s and took over the presidency in 2011 following the departure of his predecessor, Etienne Poulet. His term ended in late 2017, but he had passionately pursued his involvement, and still held the role of secretary general.
Humor and kindness
Former president of the Amicale de Lucé, his home club, the linchpin of the Little Aces selection tournament, Christian Richard had many strings to his bow. He was thus a member of the regional arbitration commission, then chairman of the litigation committee, before taking charge, recently, of the Seniors Plus.
The Val-de-Loire Center League welcomes in a press release “a great volunteer, appreciated by all.” Christian had a sense of compromise, without compromising himself. He was a sage, whose word counted, with every word weighed. A man of humor and kindness, he interacted with everyone, without prejudice and always attentive. “
