Catherine Ribeiro, a yé-yé singer from the 1970s, known for her very militant lyrics, died during the night of August 22 to 23, 2024. She was 82 years old.

Aged 82, she died in the retirement home where she resided, in Martigues, in the south of France. Born in Lyon to Portuguese parents, Catherine Ribeiro first emerged in the 1960s as an actress, with a role in the film The Carabinieri by Jean-Luc Godard, released in 1963.
