Selva Carmen Giorno (popularized as Selva Alemán) was born on April 30, 1944. Daughter of the actress Carmen Vallejo (1922-2013), she took her stage name from her stepfather, the musician Oscar Alemán, the most virtuoso interpreter of the jazz guitar in history, a pioneer in the insertion of the Hawaiian guitar in tango, around 1927.
Her biological father, Roberto Denegri, was a radio actor. He died when she was nine or ten years old and her mother was already living with Alemán, from whom she took her surname.
In 1959, she participated in the program Historia de Jóvenes, directed by David Stivel and broadcast on Channel 7.
