We often leave Algeria in the hope of a better future. However, it is in difficult times that the majority of Algerian nationals regret this choice. Indeed, faced with the ups and downs of life, human beings always tend to share the difficulties with those close to them. A choice regretted once in the face of death, all the more so when you leave your children alone behind you.
Such is the story of Houari Ben Mokhtar who left Algeria to live in Brooklyn in the United States of America, he and his daughter Amira. However, at the age of 50, death did not stop him. Indeed, the painful news announcing the death of this Native Algerian of Oran was shared yesterday, June 26, in a Facebook group dedicated to the Algerian diaspora established in the USA.
Indeed, Houari’s death was caused by a sudden heart attack, leaving behind his 13-year-old daughter, Amira. According to relatives of the deceased, who shared the announcement of his death, Houari’s last words were “take care of my daughter”.
On these words, the Algerian community residing in Brooklyn, but also those close to Houari launched a online pot. And this, in order to help the child of Houari to pass these difficult moments. But also to repatriate the body of the deceased.
As a reminder, repatriating a person from a foreign country to Algeria can be extremely expensive. Especially if this person does not have an insurance contract allowing him to cover such incidents. Indeed, this amount can exceed 2500 euros.
A kitty to repatriate an Algerian who died in Philadelphia
Ahmed Ould Meziane is another Algerian residing in the USA, more precisely in Philadelphia. On June 14, he was pronounced dead after being hospitalized for more than three days.
Indeed, a repatriation of this 49-year-old father was organized by his relatives in the USA. And this, to welcome the body of the deceased in his native land, Kabylia in Algeria. To do this, aware of the high costs that repatriation can entail, the Algerian diaspora has launched an operation fundraising to help his family.
It is in such difficult times that the solidarity and generosity of the Algerians manifests itself. Whether on the national territory or elsewhere in the world; Algerians are certainly known for their strong characters, but also for their generosity.
