According to the public prosecutor of Chartres, Rémi Coutin, a worker died on January 22 around 9 a.m. on the site of Chartres cathedral. The man in his sixties was in all likelihood the victim of a heart attack while he was working.
“He did not receive anything on the head, it is obviously not a homicide … There is nothing in the state which does not justify a particular concern of the parquet floor”, detailed Rémi Coutin. A precision which is not trivial: at least 21 workers have died in a work accident since the beginning of the year 2021 according to twitter account “Work accident: silence, workers die”.
According to several of our colleagues, the man was mounted on a scaffolding at the time of his heart failure, which may have prevented help from reaching him in time. The prosecutor was not, however, in a position to confirm this information with France 3.
