The Bastia prosecutor’s office opened a criminal investigation for intentional homicide after the death of a four-month-old baby with significant injuries, and one of his parents was taken into police custody.
This relative of the infant, who died at the hospital in Nice after being transferred from Corsica, was taken into custody by the brigade of minors of the Nice police station, seized by the investigating judge.
Help was called Wednesday to take care of this baby, transferred first to the Calvi hospital in serious condition, then to the mainland where he died.
“Violence of the blows”
In view of the wounds, bruises and intracranial wounds presented by the small victim, attesting to “the violence of the blows”, the prosecution retained the count of “intentional homicide”, confirmed the prosecutor of Bastia Arnaud Viornery.
