VLISSINGEN – A man died in Vlissingen around midnight, possibly as a result of a stab wound. The police have started an investigation and have now arrested one person.
The victim was found outside a house in Kasteelstraat around midnight. Ambulance and helicopter trauma teams were called, but the doctors seemed unable to do anything more for the victim. The police are on the scene with several units and announce that the man died on the spot.
According to a police spokesperson, the victim may have been stabbed. Around 1:40 am, the police reported that a man was arrested as a suspect on Bosjeslaan in the same place. “We are investigating his involvement in the fatal stabbing,” a police spokesman said.
The identity of the deceased remains under investigation. The other circumstances surrounding the death are also being investigated further. Part of Kasteelstraat has been closed for this reason. Blackout curtains were placed at the crime scene – the victim was lying on a sidewalk – around 1:15am. In addition to the police, an investigation unit of the Royal Military Police is also present.
