On Wednesday, viewers could watch a rerun of the successful Exchange of Wives with Matěj Stropnický and his friend, actor Daniel Krejčík, on television screens. For TN.cz, they now remembered the filming of the Exchange and revealed what had changed at home during that time.
In the VIP part of the Exchange of Wives, one of the key topics was childcare. On the one hand, Krejčík had to take care of six children as their surrogate mother. Even then, he let it be heard that he would like to have children with his partner Matěj once, but the legislation in the Czech Republic does not allow this.
“It’s sad, but fortunately the children keep coming to life in such a strange way. First the exchange of wives and now we have about five children from Ukrainian refugee families at the castle in Osečany,” Dan outlined. He lived in the chateau alone for a couple of four years and now shares a kitchen and a bathroom with three other families.
Matěj added that living with refugee families at the castle in Osečany brings both joys and sorrows. “We had a baby here, on the other hand, a lady died. She had a serious illness, which she had already brought from Ukraine. It is such a life alone. It is emotionally demanding, but fortunately we are very trained from the Exchange,” Stropnický said.
Martina’s family from Výměna was at the chateau in the summer, Matěj and Dan paid for a visit between the Christmas holidays. Martina and her family remember the Exchange only in a good way, there are mainly positive changes in her life. Father Pavel has a different job and devotes much more time to children. “Honestly, they’re still lazy and always will be. We’re still upset, but in those seven years we’re so used to each other that we probably wouldn’t change anymore,” Martina laughs.
The show also addressed that Martin eats little but drinks a lot of coffee. Matěj tried to keep an eye on it, and it seems that Martina could still tell herself a little. “He probably can’t imagine getting up three times a night with a child and then with the others to school in the morning. But now I only drink two coffees a day. Matěj stabbed me in this,” Martina said.
Since the filming of The Exchange of Wives, Matěj and Dan have managed to complete the roof of the chateau. This year, in addition to the fountain, the rooms inside are also being reconstructed. In the summer in Osečany there will be a theatrical summer again and the proceeds will go to the reconstruction. “These are beautiful evenings when it’s played in the courtyard under the stars. This year, Matej and I will be playing California Mist, unless we kill each other by then,” Dan concluded with a laugh.
