batampos.co.id – Overwork or overwork can lead to heart failure.
Lecturer of the Department of Cardiology and Vascular Medicine, Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Airlangga (Unair) Dr dr Andrianto SpJP (K) FIHA FAsCC said, for someone who experiences overwork, there is an increase in excessive load beyond the normal burden of the heart.
Automatically, the heart will meet the body’s needs through a compensatory mechanism. The mechanism is the heart’s reserve work power which is used to overcome the excessive workload of the heart.
”At some point, the heart’s compensatory mechanism will fail. If there is an overload, it can lead to heart failure,” he said.

Andrianto explained, heart failure can occur acutely or chronically. Acute heart failure occurs in someone who does not know that he has a certain heart disorder. Then, they develop symptoms of heart failure suddenly. Meanwhile, chronic heart failure occurs in someone who has certain heart disorders accompanied by decreased function and has been experienced for some time.
”Well, new acute heart failure or worsening chronic heart failure can be triggered by excessive activity or overwork. So, we need a balance between the ability and burden of the body, especially the heart, in daily activities,” he said.
To prevent heart failure, he continued, it is very important to maintain the health of the heart organ. It’s very easy. Namely, living a healthy lifestyle. Changes in healthy lifestyles can include controlling risk factors for hypertension, coronary heart disease, diabetes mellitus, obesity, stress, and hypercholesterolemia. In addition, do not smoke, exercise regularly, and a diet low in fat and salt.
”However, for people with hypertension, coronary heart disease, and diabetes mellitus who have been diagnosed, they must take medication according to doctor’s recommendations and have regular control,” he said.
Andrianto said that regular health checks are also important. You don’t have to wait to be sick, even in good health you can do a health check-up. ”Diagnosis and proper treatment of heart disease early can help prevent heart failure,” he said.
