Al-Marsad Newspaper: Retired Major General Saad Al-Khelaiwi revealed how the security authorities dealt with the riots during Hajj in 1987.

Al-Khelaiwi said, during an interview with the “Aman” channel: Vandals wanted to offend the pilgrimage and exceeded in their actions that amounted to attacking the security men inside Makkah. However, the firmness pursued by the state includes the safety of the pilgrims as a “red line”, explaining: The response was decisive and stopped these vandals at their limit and became a lesson that they and others could not forget.

He pointed out: When any person thinks of turning the pilgrimage into slogans, he will be beaten with an iron fist, and this is absolutely no humiliation.

And he continued: Decisiveness and firmness to decide on the matter, and we hoped that this annoying incident would not happen, and it was dealt with as soon as possible, and it was completely controlled.

And he concluded: Everyone should know that Hajj is a ritual and a fifth pillar. If you come to perform this duty, but think about turning it into slogans, we will deal with you firmly and forcefully.
