Deadpool 2 producers fined € 267,000 after dead stuntwoman | NOW

The producers of the film Deadpool 2 have to pay a fine of converted 267,000 euros after the accident of a stunt woman on the set. Deadline reports that producers are charged with non-compliance with safety regulations.

Manufacturing company TCF Vancouver Productions LTD received the fine from WorkSafeBC, the local agency that oversees workplace safety. WorkSafeBC ruled last year that the producers of the film had defaulted, partly because stuntwoman Joi Harris was not wearing a helmet when performing the stunt.

“The fine is being imposed to motivate the employer to comply with the regulations and keep workplaces safe for their employees,” the agency said.

Film company 20th Century Fox previously settled with Harris’s family. At that time, the amount was not disclosed.

Harris died on August 14, 2017 in Vancouver, when she lost control of her motorbike while shooting a scene and collided with a building. It was one of Harris’s first stunt jobs, who in addition had only gained experience on race tracks.
