The 21 people killed in the Venice bus crash come from seven countries. In addition to the Italian driver, nine Ukrainians, four Romanian tourists, three Germans, two Portuguese, a Croat and a South African were killed on Tuesday.
The victims include several children. Fifteen other foreign passengers were injured. Some are still in intensive care.
The electric bus crashed through the guardrail of a viaduct in Mestre on Tuesday evening, fell more than 10 meters and caught fire. The bus took the tourists back to a campsite after a day in Venice.
The authorities are investigating the cause of the accident and consider that the driver may have become unwell. They hope that eyewitnesses and surveillance camera images will provide more clarity.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his condolences on Italian television to the relatives of all the victims.
