Deadly shooting on the street in Lower Manhattan is apparent murder-suicide – NBC New York (47)

NEW YORK – An apparent murder-suicide took place on the streets of Lower Manhattan Monday morning, two senior NYPD officials with direct knowledge of the investigation told our sister network News 4 New York.

Although it is still early in the investigation, law enforcement sources say they believe the incident, in which the deaths of a 46-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman were confirmed, is a domestic case.

Police units were seen at the corner of Morris and Greenwich streets Monday morning as they continued to search the area.

Police sources say the incident claimed the lives of a man and a woman. According to witnesses, the man allegedly approached the woman, shot her twice in the head and then pointed the gun at himself.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was taken to hospital where he was also pronounced dead.

There was no additional information immediately.
