Shot mass incident occurred in a gay nightclub in Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States (USA). Five people were killed and 18 others were injured.
Reported CnnOn Sunday (11/20/2022), authorities received multiple 911 calls at Club Q at 11:57pm local time. The police immediately went to the scene.
“They found a person we believe to be a suspect inside,” said Colorado Springs Police Lieutenant Pamela Castro.
“Currently, to suspect be treated, but detained,” he added.
Castro did not clarify whether the suspect was included in the tally of those injured in the shooting. He also declined to talk about the author’s motivations.
Meanwhile, Colorado Springs Fire Captain Mike Smaldino said 11 ambulances responded to the scene after multiple calls to 911 were received.
“We’ll be here for the next few hours,” Castro said, adding that the FBI was on the scene and assisting.
In a statement on social media, Club Q said they were devastated by the senseless attack on their community and offered their condolences to the victims and their families.
“We are grateful for the quick reaction of the heroic customer who subdued the gunman and put an end to this hate attack,” the statement read.
Details on how shot he was ultimately not released by police, but Castro said it was not an officer-involved shooting.
