Deadly Shooting Erupts in New York Amid Neighbor’s Noise Dispute

A neighbor’s dispute over noise ended in bloodshed when a suspect shot and killed a man and his stepson on Sunday evening in New York.

In surveillance video obtained by the New York Post, Jason Pass, 47, is first seen pacing angrily in front of the apartment above his.

Quickly, a woman came out of the home to speak with the man. A squabble ensues as his son Chinwai Mode, 27, tries to intervene. It was finally when Bladimyr Mathurin, the young man’s stepfather, confronted the neighbor with a pair of scissors in his hand that the situation degenerated.

As the altercation reached its height, Pass drew a gun and shot both men several times before fleeing.

Inconsolable, the wife of Bladimyr Mathurin and mother of Chinwai Mode, Marie Delille, told the “New York Post” that her family had been at war with their neighbor for a year because of the noise.

“We discovered that the upstairs apartment had no carpet. It was a wooden floor, so lots of noise. People coming and going generated these calls,” explained New York Police Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny, adding that there were six complaints from the shooter before the events.
