NU.nl regularly gives you an overview of the situation in Ukraine. With this time: a new wave of Russian missile attacks has killed and injured in Dnipro. Missiles also hit key infrastructure in Kyiv and Kharkiv. The United Kingdom will also supply tanks to Ukraine.
Russian missile strikes were again carried out in various places in Ukraine on Saturday. Five people were killed and 39 injured, including seven children, in an attack on an apartment building in the city of Dnipro. The youngest victim is three years old.
Images clearly show the extent of the devastation in Dnipro. Many victims are buried under the rubble. Much of the apartment complex has been destroyed. The rescue operation is still in full swing and it is feared that the number of dead and injured will rise.
Russian rocket wave across Ukraine
There were also Russian attacks elsewhere in the country. Attacks on energy infrastructure have been carried out in both Kharkiv in the east and Lviv in the west, local authorities said. In Lviv, authorities warn of interruptions in the supply of water and electricity.
Explosions were heard in Kyiv. Rockets also came down in the capital and infrastructure was damaged.
Mayor Vitali Klitschko said there were no casualties and the rockets landed in areas where no one lives. The Dniprovskyi district, among others, is said to have been affected. Several buildings have been severely damaged by falling missile parts.

‘Busy to provide energy’
The mayor called on residents of Kyiv on Saturday morning to stay in the bomb shelters. “The details of the attack are being investigated,” an aide to President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
Witnesses told news agency Reuters that several explosions were heard before the air raid siren went off in Kyiv.
Kharkiv governor Oleg Synyehubov said Kharkiv had been hit by two missiles. The city is close to the Russian border. “Our people are busy stabilizing the situation and making sure there is energy.”
Missile debris found in Moldova
The Russian missiles also caused fear in neighboring Moldova. Missile remnants have landed in the north of the country. The Moldovan Interior Ministry confirmed that these were Russian missiles used in the wave of attacks on Ukraine on Saturday.
“After Russia’s massive bombing of Ukraine, a border police patrol discovered the remains of a missile,” the ministry said.
Moldova borders southwestern Ukraine. During the war, the country experienced power outages, among other things, after Russian missiles hit Ukraine’s electricity grid.
Ukraine gets British tanks
Ukraine can count on British tanks. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak of the United Kingdom promised that in a conversation with Zelensky on Saturday. Sunak promised to provide Challenger 2 tanks and additional artillery systems to ramp up support to Ukraine.
Zelensky welcomed the British decision as Ukraine urges its allies to send heavier weapons. The Ukrainian president thanked Sunak on Twitter “for the decisions that not only strengthen us on the battlefield, but also send the right signal to other partners”.

Discussion about supplying tanks to Ukraine
Discussions are currently raging in various countries about supplying tanks to Ukraine. Governments are reluctant to send heavier weapons for fear of further escalation and being drawn into the war.
Last week, France, Germany and the United States promised to send armored vehicles, but Ukraine is hoping for heavier tanks. The Challenger 2 is the main battle tank of the British Army.
Russia claims Soledar conquest, Ukraine denies
Russia continues to capture Ukrainian cities and reported complete capture of the eastern Ukrainian city of Soledar. Ukraine denies that.
There has been heavy fighting in Soledar for days. Moscow acknowledged that the battle was tough and difficult and that Ukraine put up a tough resistance. Images show that the city has been almost completely wiped out.
Question marks on value Soledar and Bakhmut
The capture of Soledar would be important because it would allow the Russians to block roads to Bakhmut. Western analysts doubt that the capture of Soledar will bring much to the Russians.
The battle for Bakhmut is a bloody attrition, with neither side making much progress in recent months – and Bakhmut’s strategic usefulness is already disputed.
