Kyiv: Eleven people were killed in a Russian missile attack yesterday morning in a residential area of Krivy Re, the hometown of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. 28 people were injured. The condition of 12 people is critical. The five-storey building was completely destroyed in the attack. Rescue operations are ongoing among the debris.
There were also widespread missile and drone attacks in the capital Kyiv and the northeastern city of Kharkiv. The Ukrainian Air Force said that Russia launched 14 cruise missiles and four Iranian-made drones last night, of which it shot down 10 missiles and one drone.
At the same time, Ukraine claimed to have recaptured seven Russian-held villages in the south and east of the country. Ukraine also said it had achieved a slight gain in counterattacks near the eastern city of Bakhmut, where fighting has raged for months.
Meanwhile, Russia announced that it had seized Western armored vehicles from the Ukrainian army and had broken the Ukrainian offensive in southern Donetsk. A top Russian general, Sergei Goryachev, was reportedly killed in an attack by Ukraine on Monday in Zaporizhia.
