Deadly Nightshade: Winterthur has a garbage problem

Private household waste is increasingly disposed of in the public waste bins of the city of Winterthur. The poster campaign “Domestic waste is a private matter” informs residents that this type of disposal is not allowed, the Tollkirsch group wrote in a statement.

According to waste consultant Simon Amann from Winterthur’s civil engineering department, many residents do not even know that they are doing something illegal and are leaving themselves vulnerable to prosecution. The campaign should therefore have an educational impact in particular.

Since garbage bins at bus stops are mainly used for the disposal of illegal household waste, the idea arose to integrate the appropriate places into the campaign: The subjects show in a way an exaggeration of what the places would look like if the city of Winterthur was staffed. not to be used permanently and actively, to keep the city clean.

The aim of the poster campaign is to provide unbiased and factual information and to raise awareness so that people can dispose of their waste correctly again using tax bags. This is why the posters deliberately avoid using terms such as “ban”, “illegal” or “penal”.

The poster campaign was launched in mid-October and is displayed on city poster boards at bus stops, in parks and in the old town of Winterthur. (pd/spo)
