A separatist official in the Nagorno-Karabakh region announced on Wednesday that the military operation launched by Azerbaijan led to the death of at least 200 people and the injury of hundreds of others.
The Ombudsman for Human Rights in the region, Gigham Stepanyan, said: “There are at least 200 dead and more than 400 wounded” as a result of the operation that began on Tuesday and ended on Wednesday with the conclusion of a ceasefire agreement after the separatists surrendered.
Media reports reported that Armenians in the Nagorno-Karabakh region agreed to Azerbaijan’s conditions to disarm to stop the military operation.

Ceasefire and integration talks with Azerbaijan
The Russian Interfax news agency reported that Armenian separatists in Nagorno-Karabakh agreed to the terms of a ceasefire proposed by Russian peacekeeping forces after suffering a series of setbacks on the battlefield at the hands of the Azerbaijani army.
The ceasefire took effect at nine in the morning on Wednesday, and talks will be held on Thursday regarding re-integration with Azerbaijan.
Later, the Azerbaijani presidency confirmed the holding of negotiations on Thursday regarding the re-integration of the Nagorno-Karabakh region with Azerbaijan.

The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan also confirmed, on Wednesday, that it had reached a ceasefire agreement with ethnic Armenian forces in the Nagorno-Karabakh region.
The ministry said that the Armenian forces in the mountainous region agreed to “lay down their weapons, abandon combat positions and military positions, and completely disarm them,” and that all weapons and heavy equipment were being handed over to the Azerbaijan army.
