Deadly Fight Between Immigrants at Manhattan Shelter: Dafren Cañizález Stabbed to Death

An alleged fight between two immigrants at a Manhattan shelter ended in death. Dafren Cañizález, 24, was stabbed in the torso and died shortly after in a hospital.

According to the authorities’ report, the incident occurred on Saturday, around 7:27 p.m., at a shelter located at 600 East 125 Street, within the limits of the 25th district.

After the 911 call, officers arrived at the scene and found Dafren Cañizález seriously injured. He was transported by emergency services to NYC Health and Hospitals/Harlem, where he was pronounced dead.

Moisés Coronado, 26, was arrested and is suspected of the crime, pending investigations. So far, no more injuries or arrests have been reported.

Local media stated that both were immigrants recently arrived in New York City.
